Born in 2007 and younger,

The free choice program, which must include at least two compositions of different styles and epochs.

Program duration is up to 10 minutes.

D CATEGORY

Born on 2005 and younger,

The free choice program, which must include at least two compositions of different styles and epochs.

Program duration is up to 12 minutes.

E CATEGORY

Born in 2003 and younger,

The free choice program, which must include at least two compositions of different styles and epochs.

Program duration is up to 15 minutes.

F CATEGORY

Born in 2001 and younger,

The free choice program, which must include at least two compositions of different styles and epochs.

Program duration is up to 20 minutes.

CATEGORY - ACADEMY A

Students in the First and Second Year at Undergraduate Studies

CATEGORY - ACADEMY B

Students in the Third, Fourth and Fifth Year (in case if the Faculty has a five – year system of studies at Undergraduate Studies) at Undergraduate Studies.

CATEGORY – ACADEMY +

Specialization students, post - graduate students and PhD students.

I STAGE (eliminatory) 

  1. Virtuoso etude:
  • Chopin: op.10; op.25 (except: op.10. no.3, no.6; op.25. no.7), or
  • Liszt(free choice), or
  • Rachmaninov: op.33; op.39 (except: op.33. no.3, no.8 g-moll; op.39. no.2, no.7), or
  • Skrabin: op.8; op.42; op.65(except: op.2. no.1; op.8. no.8, no.11; op.42. no.4).

 

  1. The first movement of the sonata (obligatory sonata allegro):
  • For categories ACADEMY A i ACADEMY B: J.Haydn, W.A.Mozart or L.van Beethoven.
  • For category ACADEMY + : W.A.Mozart, L.van.Beethoven

 

II STAGE – free choice program (recital):

  • Category ACADEMY A – up to 20 minutes
  • Category ACADEMY B – up to 30 minutes
  • Category ACADEMY + -  up to 40 minutes

 

Note:

Candidates in categories Academy A, B and Academy +, submit the application with the evidence - scanned certificate of study year, apropos evidens of specialization, post- graduation or PhD studies, on mail address: klavirsolo@muzickaskolativat.me. The original certificate is submitted for insight during registration at the competition.

Composition performed in the First Stage cannot be performed in the Second Stage.

The candidates are obligated to hand in the Score Material for insight at the request of the jury members.

The Program is performed by heart.

The application deadline is April 1st 2020.

The Jury work is regulated by THE PROCEDURERULES OF THE JURY.

The Jury is composed of 4 to 5 members, experts and eminent music educators in this field.

Performing the author covers is allowed.

The program duration is up to 20 minutes.

CATEGORY  - ACADEMY (Undergraduate Studies students)

Two or more compositions of different styles and epochs, of which, at least one work has to be the cycle form (sonata, fantasy, variations), originally written for the four - hands piano.

Performing the author covers is allowed (for example- J.Brahms – Hungarian Dance).

The program duration is up to 25 minutes.

 CATEGORY - ACADEMY + (Specialization students, post-graduate students and PhD students)

Two or more compositions of different styles and epochs, of which, at least one work has to be the cycle form (sonata, fantasy, variations), originally written for the four - hands piano.

Performing the author covers is allowed (for example- J.Brahms – Hungarian Dance).

The program duration is up to 35 minutes.

Candidates in categories Academy and Academy +, submit the application and evidence of a study year, apropos evidens of specialization, post-graduation or PhD studies, on mail address: klavirduo@muzickaskolativat.me. The original certificate is submitted for insight during registration at the competition.

 

Note:

Category for the four - hands piano duet is determined by the older ensemble member, which means that the older member leads the younger in the older category.

The candidates are obligated to hand in the Score Material for insight at the request of the  jury members.

  1. Candidate accompanies, in fact performs two compositions, out of a total of three from the list of compositions, that will be determined by the Organizer, and will be published on the Competition Website, from 1st December 2019.
  2. A candidate prepares all (three) compositions from the list. The exact title of the compositions that they play, is determined by drawing lots, three hours before the beginning of the category.

CATEGORIES ACADEMY and ACADEMY +

  1. Candidate accompanies, in fact performs two compositions, out of a total of three from the list of compositions, that will be determined by the Organizer, and will be published on the Competition Website, from 1st December 2019.
  2. A candidate prepares all (three) compositions from the list. The exact title of the compositions that they play, is determined by drawing lots, three hours before the beginning of the category.
  3. Three days before the Contest, another composition will be highlighted on the website muzickaskolativat.me - which is obligatory.

Two rehearsals with demonstrators – soloists are provided by the Organizer in accordance with the Competition Rules.

THE RULEBOOKS OF THE COMPETITION

THE RULEBOOK OF THE COMPETITION

Article 1.

JU The Music School Tivat (hereinafter: The School) organizes the International Piano Competition for pianists of all levels of education. The competition is public.

Article 2.

The competition is conducted in accordance with the Rulebook and the Competition Propositions. The Rulebook regulates elements related to the organization of competitions, while Competition Proposition regulates the programs of competition disciplines and categories.

Article 3.

The competition is held biennially in the disciplines: piano solo, piano four-hands duet and accompaniment.

Article 4.

Applications for the Competition are submitted by April 1st  2020. Registration is done online on the website www.muzickaskolativat.me .

Article 5.

The competitor bears the travelling and accommodation costs in Tivat by himself/herself.

The candidate may request accommodation information at https://tivat.travel/ or through other online accommodation providers.

Article 6.

In all disciplines, candidates compete in categories according to age.

The exception is the piano four-hands duet discipline, where the category is determined by the older duet member, which means that the older member leads the  younger to the older category.

At the request of the jury, for all disciplines, candidates are required to submit evidence of the year of birth.

Article 7.

The number of categories and age of the candidates for each discipline are highlighted in the competition Propositions.

Article 8.

The program in the disciplines piano duet and accompaniment (for all categories) can be performed from the Music Scores, while the program in the Piano solo discipline can only be performed by heart.

Article 9.

The Organizer provides the space for practicing in the rooms of School from the arrival time -registration of competitors till the time of performance at the Competition.

All the participants have the certain terms for the warming up before the performance-competition.

Article 10.

The Organizer provides the soloists - assistants for the competitors in the discipline of Accompaniment.

Each participant of the competition has the right to have two free rehearsals with the assistant.

The rehearsal schedule with the assistants will be displayed on the website, after creating the Schedule of the competition.

The soloists - assistants play from the editions that are enclosed on the website. If the candidate - the competitor plays from other editions, he/she is obliged to submit the Music Scores to the jury members.

In all categories, the candidate accompanies or performs two compositions, out of a total of three from the list of compositions, which are determined by the Organizer and are displayed on the Competition website from 1st December 2020.

The candidate prepares all the compositions, and performs two of them that are determined by drawing lots, three hours before the beginning of the category.

The exception is the category ACADEMY and ACADEMY +, where the candidate accompanies or performs two compositions out of total of three from the list of compositions.

In addition, three days before the start of the Competition, another composition will be highlighted on the website www.muzickaskolativat.me which is mandatory in these categories.

Article 11.

The score list, the number of prizes and the fee amount are displayed in the Propositions, for each discipline individually.

Article 12.

For the first prize winners with the highest score, prizes were provided:

For the discipline PIANO SOLO:

  • Categories E, F 100€
  • Categories Academy A, Academy B and Academy + 150€

For the discipline PIANO FOUR - HANDS DUET:

  • Categories E, F, Academy, Academy +                      100€

For the discipline ACCONPANIMET:

  • Categories C, Academy, Academy +                         100€

If the Competitors from discipline PIANO SOLO and  PIANO FOUR- HANDS DUET referred to the Paragraph 1 of this Article, are declared as the Laureates of the Competition, they will receive only Laureate Prize of 250€.

The candidates are awarded   Diplomas by Jury members, according to the schedule displayed on the bulletin board.

Candidates with the highest number of points, chosen by Jury, play at the Final Concert of the Competition, when they will be awarded Diplomas.

Article 13.

The Competition Organizer – The Music School Tivat, reserves the rights to do the audio-recordings as well as Radio, TV and Internet broadcasting of the Competition performance, without any compensation.

Article 14.

The Jury’s work is regulated by THE RULES OF JURY’S PROCEDURE.

The Jury is composed of 3 to 5 members, experts and eminent music educators in this field.

The schedule of the competition will be determined no later than 18th April 2020 and displayed on the website www.muzickaskolativat.me

THE RULES OF JUR'S PROCEDURE

                 THE RULES OF JUR'S PROCEDURE

 

Article 1

For the disciplines piano solo, piano four-hands duet and accompaniment, jury consists of three to five members - prominent pianists and piano teachers.

Article 2

The Rules of Jury’s procedure respects the conflicts of interest standards, guarantees the transparency of jury’s work, emphasizes piano and interpretative demands for awarding the prizes as well as the title of Laureates and also harmonizes the process and the way of scoring, evaluating and ranking   the competitors.

Article 3

Each competitor is allowed to have a contact with the Jury members, according to specially organized schedule.

Article 4

Competitors who are eliminated during the competition, aren’t allowed to have any kind of contact with the jury members outside the specially organized schedule, during the period of competition.

Article 5.

Competitor can compete in a higher category (than in the category where it is possible to compete according the Rulebook), regardless of the age or the status of education.

Article 6.

Jury member who is related to the competitor or who made (institutional or non-institutional) pedagogical contact with the competitor, isn’t allowed to take part in scoring, evaluating or ranking that competitor.

Article 7.

Evaluating of the competitors is based on valuing the following elements:

  1. Technical skills
  2. Quality of sound
  3. Phrasing, respecting the stylistic features and musicality
  4. Performing accuracy
  5. Artistic impression (evaluation of personal access to performing).

 Article 8.

In case of exceeding the prescribed program duration for more than five minutes, Jury can disqualify the competitor.

The competitor performs each composition only once and during the performance he/she mustn’t be interrupted or disturbed.

The competitor age limit is determined by the fact that in a certain category are competitors who, in the calendar year of the competition, turn out the years specified for that category.

Article 9.

Competitors are evaluated by points from 1 to 100.

The final number of points for each competitor is obtained by adding the points of each Jury member and then by dividing the score by the number of jury members who take part in evaluation.

Average (final) grade consists of the whole number with two decimals possible, without rounding-off.

Upon completion of the competition, a score list with a summary score and a possible prize is publicly announced.

Article 10.

In case if the tie score is occurred, jury decides the order.

Jury’s decision is final and irrevocable.
